A WORD FROM ATU CHIDERA (ABSU SUG DOS)

Am not ignorant about the news on the social Media concerning my suspension and relieve of duties by theSRC on the basis of "GROSS MISCONDUCT " so I had to write this to strengthen issues because of my already damaged reputation and love I get from those who believe in me which may gradually fade away because of the bad name tag placed on my personality and office.

The SRC has the power to checkmate the activities of the Executives and have the right to suspend any official on account of misconduct.

Below are the grounds for my suspension:

A) Refusal to honour the

invitations of the house for a meeting (24/JUNE 2016).

B) Making derogatory statements to the house and Negligence of the DOS to carry the SRC along in discharge of his constitutional duties .

               THE TRUTH.
A) I missed the meeting because of an SUG event on 24/6/2016 (the skill acquisition program) which is a social event in collaboration with welfare director and organised by the vice president, and the fact that the notice for meeting came less than 24hrs to the time of the meeting so it was indeed difficult to get my committee members for ratification since we all have varying schedules.

B) On 11/6/2016, I honoured the invitation the house to come with my social committee members for ratification by 12pm prompt, I was walked out by the SRC on account of not dressing cooperate and was not allowed to say a word. By 5:30pm.

Below is the text msg I sent to the SP,DSP &Clerk by 4:11pm due to delay in the time earlier given(12pm promt) which was tagged derogatory on which I must be suspended:

Hlo sir. I came to RC from a group rehearsal for ABSU dance battle organised by me,av lost the whole day cus of the ratification, pls ild like to be excused to shower eat bla bla bla but my committee nominees are present for ratification thanks.

I never insulted any one,I never embezzled funds I committed no crime.

This is my first time as an SUG executive, the Honourable house should have called me to order if found wanting  not going on the social media to dent my reputation.

Thanks for believing in me,thanks for voting me,I promise to continue protecting the interest of students socially .

Inter-faculty Football Match

In the spirit of sportsmanship, two distinguished faculities in ABSU contended against each other at the school pavilion. The faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences battled with the faculty of Business Administration. It was an extraordinary football match due to the fact that it was the female team of each faculty that played the match. Now everyone knows that female football matches are always interesting due to their unfamiliarity with the game of football. This match wasn't an exception. the spectators, I for one was thrilled. Both teams proved strong throughout the duration of the match. Worthy of note would be the defender of the Business Administration team who took her wing very seriously. She was indeed very active as she prevented a goal saving her team. The match ended with the Business Administration team as the winner. The match ended 1 - 0.

Ikpeazu goes on Appeal, says I remain Abia governor

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has called on Abians not to panic, but "remain calm" over the judgment of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court Abuja delivered in favor of Mr. Uche Oga against him, in the case of alleged falsification of tax receipts.

Governor Ikpeazu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Enyinnaya Appolos, on Monday, said that he has faith in the judiciary and rule of law.

He added that he will appeal the ruling as he has instructed his lawyers to file an appeal immediately against the said judgment.

The Governor noted as an appointee of the Abia State Government from 2011 to 2014, when he served as the General Manager, Abia State Passengers Integrated Manifest and Safety Scheme (ASPIMSS), and first Deputy General Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency (ASEPA) Aba and Environs respectively, before his resignation in October 2014 to contest the Governorship election in the state, his taxes were deducted at source within that period.

According to him, when he had need of his tax clearance in 2014, he applied to the Abia State Board of Internal Revenue, and was duly issued with his tax receipts for the period in question.

Ikpeazu maintenance that he remains the Governor of the state according to law and will await the final determination of the matter by the appellate courts.

Federal High Court orders Abia state governor to immediately vacate office

Justice Okon Abang of a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, to vacate his office immediately, after finding him guilty of submitting fake tax clearance document to the PDP during the party's governorship primary in December 2014.

Ikpeazu's rival at the primary, Uche Ogah, had petitioned the court and provided evidence to show that Ikpeazu had indeed provided fake tax clearance to their party. After listening to the counsels of both politicians, the presiding judge ordered INEC to immediately issue a certificate of return to Ogah.

Mountain climbing!!

Just like a regular Saturday of every second semester in ABSU, students with the collaboration and arrangements made by their various departmental excos climbed the ABSU mountain today. Several departments from History and International Relations, Sociology, Mass Communication, Law and others deemed it fit to take their students on a hike to the prestigious ABSU mountain. It is said that you didn't really pass through ABSU if you never visited this mountain. It's not an easy ride up neither is it going down. Looking at the mountain from below, it may appear easy to scale but the reverse is the case. Students regarded the hike as in concurrence to the popular Gulder Ultimate Search. At the top games were played, dance groups performed, card gifts presented and lots of other activities. Students to get a better view had to climb the trees at the. Mountain. Well that didn't turn out to be entirely satisfactory as a huge tree branch got broken due to overweight, fortunately those under the tree escaped swiftly and no one got hurt.  After getting to the top and having a beautiful view of the institution's environs and partaking in a few activities, the students proceeded to the Waterfall.

SUG Director of Socials suspended?

There has been press releases rounding whatsapp groups that the current DOS in the person Comr Atu Chidera aka chewing stick has being suspended by the SRC (students representative council) reasons being gross misconduct. The executive arm reacted to press releases with this below.

 STUDENTS UNION GOVERNMENT.

     PRESS RELEASE....

Sequel to an earlier publication from the S.R.C which stipulated that, they are alive on grounds of suspending a competent Director of socials, Comr . Atu Chidera, who in all ramification has discharged his official duty effectively.
The executive body wish to warn any person parading himself as Acting Dir.of social to desist from such or face the wrath.
Having scrutinized the provision of section 55(3) of which the suspension should be of gross misconduct and not of forceful respect to the legislative arm.
In as much as the legislative arm wants to be 'alive' as stipulated in their Earlier publication, the executive arm will not tolerate any one trying to act ultra vires on grounds of:
A)Not giving at least 48hours notice to executive for any invitation for a meeting.
B)Not copying to the S.U.G President for such decision.
The executive arm uses this medium to announce to all Absu students that Comr.Atu Chidera remains the S.U.G Dir of socials, any other person that wants to assume the position should wait for the next election,so as to contest.

Justice Niki Tobi is dead

NoRetired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Niki Tobi, has died. Tobi passed on in the early hours of Friday at the National Hospital, Abuja. His corpse was later moved to the morgue of Garki General Hospital. The retired judge had been having grave health issues since 2011. He subsequently went blind and totally lost his memory. Tobi was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2002 and retired in July 2010 after attaining the age of 70.

His record of service was significantly blighted by his membership of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which validated the flawed 2007 presidential election that installed the late President Umaru Yar' Adua. Tobi and other members of the tribunal were said to have been heavily induced by Yar' Adua who, in his inaugural speech as president, admitted that his election was flawed. One of the promises made to him as part of the compensation for delivering a crooked verdict was that his son Ebowei Tobi, a high court judge, would be elevated to the Court of Appeal. That promise was, however, not kept, after Saharareporters exposed it to the public, leaving him frustrated.

Born July 14, 1940 in Esanma in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, Tobi was an academic before his career on the bench. As an academic, he was variously the Dean, of Faculty of Law, University of Maiduguri and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services) of the same institution.

Dance Battle!!!

The day of the dance battle finally arrived, and trust me it was a blast. Anyone who was really in attendance would concur to that. Though it started a little bit later than planned, it was still a thrilling event. It started with the freestyle section, both teams showed marvelous skillz. It turned out that team ABSU won the section. After that three other sections took place consecutively from hip-hop to naija to mix. Both teams performed excellently well. Stunts were performed, routines were danced, beef-dance was in action. It's was a thrilling moment not just for the dancers but the amiable audience in attendance. After much much, the decision for the wining team had to be made. Deliberations were made for the audience to be the judge which the refuted to and requested a verdict from a judge. Team Mouau started strong while team Absu started weak, but in a game like this it's all about finishing strong which Absu did. In order not to be partial an extra section was made to determine the winner, both teams danced to a song selected by the invited judge. After much consideration and commendation Absu emerged the winner. It was indeed a fun weekend.
